Saints look to rebound against Bombers
Arroyo Seco sits 3.5 games back of a playoff spot with just over a week left in the season.
PASADENA, CA — After suffering a shocking loss to the Philippines Baseball Group (1-19) on Friday night, the Arroyo Seco Saints (12-17) return to Jackie Robinson Memorial Field on Saturday to face the San Diego Bombers (5-13).
With a win Friday, the Saints would have drawn within 2.5 games of the Academy Barons (15-13) for the final wild card spot in the CCL South. However, the offense went cold after a two-run first inning, allowing the Philippines to walk away with a 6-2 victory — their first of the season.
The Bombers, meanwhile, are coming off a 6-2 win of their own against the Orange County Riptide (21-14) on Friday.
Arroyo Seco and San Diego will meet for the fourth and final time this summer. The Saints took the first two games by a combined score of 25-10, but the Bombers came out with a 10-4 win in their most recent matchup.
Hudson Carvalho (University of Oregon) will be tasked with getting Arroyo Seco back in the win column as he gets the start for the second time this season. He was stellar in his previous start, allowing just one hit and two runs in five innings against the Conejo Oaks (18-10).
First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. A live broadcast of the game will be available on the Saints' YouTube channel.
