Conejo Oaks
PASADENA, CA – The Arroyo Seco Saints (10-15) are set to face the Conejo Oaks (15-9-1) again after beating them 5-4 just last night at Ventura College. Now the Saints will host the Oaks at Jackie Robinson Memorial Field on July 12 at 5:35 p.m.
The Saints are 1-2 against the Oaks this season as they look to even the score tonight. After a rough month of June, the July Saints are working hard to turn things around, riding a three-game winning streak before Sunday's affair.
Currently, the Saints are ranked sixth in the CCL South division, and the Oaks are ranked third. Last night, the Saints seemed headed for a defeat, down 4-0 at the bottom of the eighth. However, the Saints did not want to come home with a loss.
The Saints scored five runs in the ninth, with the help of Brayden Flores' (Loyola Marymount University) game-tying single that scored two runs for the Saints. And Zach Leite's (Old Dominion University) sac fly took the lead to 5-4.
All pressure was on pitcher Griffin Rogers (Occidental College) as he stepped up to the mound. Rogers impressively denied the Oaks any opportunities and maintained the Saints' win.
The Saints' starting pitcher, Thomas Peck (University of Nevada - Reno), aims to continue the Saints' winning streak tonight.
Tune in for the first pitch at 5:35 p.m. on our Saints' YouTube.
