Saints Unable to Close the Gap Against the Bombers
PASADENA, CA – The Saints lose to the Bombers 10-4, due to the Bombers' early lead and consistent pitching.
The Saints started off strong; Carson Panarisi () and Canon King () scored the first runs of the game, making it 2-0 at the top of the third. Unfortunately, the Bombers quickly gained momentum.
Two out of the four errors committed by the Saints were during the third inning. The Bombers capitalized on the Saints' mistakes. A pitching change also occurred as the Bombers stayed aggressive at the plate, completing four hits and earning five runs.
The highlight of the game for the Saints was the back-to-back solo home runs in the fourth inning. Brandon Nguyen's () 372ft. bomb to center field made it his third game in a row with a home run. And Canon King's () 404ft. high hit to center-left was his fourth home run of the summer.
Brandon Nguyen says, "Feels good to be back out after the break, and see live pitching again."
The second half of the game then became the battle of the defenses. Cash Carroll () went from giving up two earned runs to pitching nine consecutive outs. The Saints defense cleaned up their play; however, the Bombers did not relax, and the Saints were unable to close the gap.
Looking ahead, Brandon Nguyen explained that the team will focus on "timely hitting" and pitching strikes.
The Saints face the Walnut Creek Crawdads at Jackie Robinson Memorial Field tomorrow at 5:35 p.m.
