IRVINE, CA — The Arroyo Seco Saints (3-6) will face the Orange County Riptide (9-2) for the third time this season. The Saints are still searching for their first win against the Riptide this season and will face off with new found momentum.
Last night, the Saints earned their third win of the season and first against the Philippines Baseball Group after Carson Panarisi (Cal State Los Angeles) threw out the game tying run at home, solidifying the win with the score 13-12.
During their first game against the Riptide, the Saints kept the lead within their grasp with Wyatt Toth (Undecided) taking the mound and in the lineup as the Saints' designated hitter, hitting a home run.
Backing up Toth defensively was Brayden Flores (Loyola Marymount University), Sean Asperger (Undecided) and Panarisi making extreme efforts to keep the Riptide's lead within reach.
During their second game, the Riptide pulled completely ahead of the Saints winning with a score of 16-2, putting them down in the series 0-2.
Since their last game against the Saints, the Riptide played the Academy Barons twice, winning one of their two games. The Riptide have now jumped to 2nd place in the California Collegiate League Southern Division, being only one game behind the Santa Barbara Foresters.
Now that the Saints are back in the win column, they look to put up more runs in this game against the Riptide and keep the momentum they gained from the night before.
You can catch the first pitch which is scheduled for 7 p.m. on the Arroyo Seco Saints YouTube Channel.
