SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – Arroyo Seco hoped to continue their recent win streak on their trip down to San Luis Obispo but a lack of offense would have them fall short to the Blues.

The Saints wouldn’t be able to spark their offense in the first inning, as a pair of groundouts would put John Thomas up to bat where he singled for his first hit of the night, but unfortunately would be stranded. Timothy Post had the start for the Saints. Post gives up a few too many singles and the Blues get their first run on the board in the bottom of the first.

In the top of the second Moya singles up the middle, shortly after Shepard knock another single into left but the Saints are unable to keep the offense going. Timothy Post really started to settle in for the Saints in the bottom of the second inning. Jenkins would make an outstanding catch at the warning track for the first out of the inning. Post would then work his way to bases loaded and impressively get himself out of the jam with no further damage done.

The Saints offense would spark in the top of the third inning when Cameron Briggs would find himself on second after a single to right and a passed ball. John Thomas would come in clutch with another two out single to score briggs and put the Saints on the board with one, tying the score 1-1. Post has his best outing yet, retiring the side in order, holding the Blues offense.
The Saints are unable to continue the offesnse in the fourth, as Gabs Chavez reaches base on an error and is eventually stranded there. Post would help himself out picking off the leadoff batter after giving up a single. Post would go on to retire the batters in order, keeping the game tied 1-1. The Saints would be set down in order in the top of the fifth and a pitching change would put Michael Gomez on the mound. Gomez would come out sting for the Saints, retiring the side on order.

The game remained in a deadlock over the next two innings. The Saints were unable to provide any spark at the plate in the top of the 6th and 7th innings. Gomez fought his way out of another jam with some masterful pitching. The Saints pitcher would strikeout two batters with a runner on second to keep the game level at 1-1 in the bottom of the 6th. However, the Saints ran into some more trouble in the bottom of the 7th as the Blues bats finally came alive. Gomez was unable to fight his way out of another jam and allowed two runners to get on base with 2 men out. Jesse Reed would replace Gomez shortly after but was unable to limit the damage. Two runners came across to score after a 2-out base knock by a Blues player.
